WHAT IS NEEDED ? - A FIRM APPROACH

Terming classical music as raag sangeet the paper highlights that it is meditative and its purpose is to bring peace and tranquility to the mind and soul. Therefore the pursuit of this art should be primarily through sadhana by the musician and the experience derived from this sadhana should be shared with the audience.

However, music is not only Atmaranjan but also manoranjan. All presentations which disregard or misinterpret Raag-sangeet, will be inappropriate. Further, Raag sangeet is a highly developed art with a fine scientific base. It is the duty of both the musicians and the organisers to show that it is a science hidden in an art form. Keeping in mind the subtleties of performance, purity, authenticity and traditionality of this art form music organisations and musicians carry a responsibility to create a discerning body of listeners. One method by which this could be done, would be by receiving the "baithak" concerts.

It is important that these points are firmly followed and not compromised through music that may be dynamic and flashy but lacking the soulful features - the mood, the form and spirit of this traditional art form.
