Cultural Activities
Gnaesh Kumar is actively involved in several cultural activities.
He has been the Hon. Secretary of The
Fine Arts Society a leading Cultural Institution in Bombay for four
years and from 2004 a "Trustee elect". He is
Secretary of Sri. Gnanananda Seva Samajam, Mumbai Unit and is actively
involved in several other institutions. With Guruji's blessings he initiated the
Gnanananda Namsankirtana Mandali at New Delhi in 1984.

At
The Fine Arts Society he was instrumental in organising several high profile events and
was instrumental in starting Hindustani Faculties; viz.: Tabla under Ustad Alla Rakha,
Harmonium under Pandit Tulsidas Borkar, Kuchipudi under Guru Vempatti Chinna Satyam and
Hindustani Vocal under Sri. Raghunandan Panshikar.
During his tenure he introduced several novel
ideas and encouraging involvement of a new generation of members.He is also instrumental
in forging together the newly formed YUV-SHAKTI - the youth wing at the Fine Arts Society.
During his four years as secretary his biggest contribution has been the introduction of new and young talents and revival of "Cultural Oriented Events viz : Navratri " apart from normal Carnatic Concerts.
He took lead in organizing in 1999 " Gurupournima Hindustani Festival
at The Fine Arts Society. The Society felicitated Dr. Gangubai Hangal, Ustad Alla Rakha,
Pt. C. R. Vyas, and Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. Dr. Gangubai Hangal.
Dr. Gangubai Hangal, Dr. Prabha Atre and Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, gave concerts.
In 2000 the second Gurupoornima and Hindiustani Festival was held featuring Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Smt. Shruti Sadolikar - Katkar, Smt. Shubha Mudgal and Gayanasaraswathi Kishori Amonkar. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Kishor Amonkar were felicitated. ( see www.chembur.com/guru )

He recently arranged a felicitation for the famous music critic Sri. Subbudu during one of his visits to Mumbai.
In May 2000 he headed a felicitation committee to felicitate Guru Smt.
T.R. Balamani, The Felicitation was followed by a carnatic concert by her illustrious
student Sri. Shankar Mahadevan ( Breathless fame ).
In 1998 he formed a three member team - Dr. Sangeetha Shankar ( Dr. N.
Rajam's daughter), Sri. Harish Kapadia and himself to felicitate Dr. N. Rajam on her
Shashti Abdapoorthy celebrations. This was herld at the Sivaswamy Auditorium and was
presided by Dr. Gangubai Hangal and several other leading Hindustani Musicians.
Sri Gnanananda Seva Samajam - Mumbai Unit. In 1997 he
organised a Grand Namsankirtan Mela in Bombay, headed by Sri Namananda Giri of Tennangur
and Sri. Vithaladas Jayakrishna Deekshitar. Bhagawatas from all over India participated.
The mela concluded with a grand recital by Mandolin U. Srinivas and a Radha Kalyanam at
The Fine Arts Society auditorium.

He is also involved in several philanthropic activities.
