SUDHA RAGHUNATHAN

Sudha Raghunathan is one of the prime disciples of Padmabhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Dr. M. L. Vasanthakumari. Sudha started her training in Carnatic classical music (vocal) under her mother, Smt. Choodamani. In 1977, Sudha received the Central Government scholarship for young artistes, for advanced training in Carnatic Music for two years.

She has performed concerts in all the major cities in India and at the invitation of prestigious institutions abroad. She has won many special awards for her performances at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Madras, The Indian Fine Arts Society and Music Academy, Madras. In 1992, she was awarded the Sri T. S. Rajam award for ‘Talented Outstanding Musician’. Some other titles conferred on her include Bharatha Sangeetha Bhushan (1997), Sangeetha Bhushini (1996) and the Woman of Golden Substance Award (1998-99).

She is an ‘A’ grade artistes of the All India Radio, Madras and also has to her credit commercial cassettes and CDs of Classical and devotional music.
