Dr. S.U. Prasad

Dr. S.U. Prasad, a Chemburite is M.S. (General Surgery); M.S. (Plastic Surgery); Diplomate National Board (Plastic Surgery) and having an illustrious career dedicated to Plastic Surgery for the last 19 years. Plastic Surgery is an extremely challenging branch in the medical profession and affords a rich scope to a wide variety of applications.
While presently he is a Plastic Surgeon at M.G.M. Hospital, Parel; he is also a consultant at various other medical centers. viz : Diamond Polyclinic & Nursing Home, Chembur; Chembur Trust Hospital, Chembur and M.G.M. Hospital, Vashi.
At abroad, he has served as Microvascular Research fellow in the Technical Research Centre, Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, London under Dr. Colin Green. Also served as an observer in Cosmetic surgery with Dr. Arumugham in Chicago in June 1999.
Dr. Prasad leads a fully functional Microsurgical team consisting of a Registrar, and a House Officer and has supervised several replantations and has performed over 250 microsurgical procedures including toe to thumb transfers. He also specialises in free tissue transfers including skin, muscle and bone.
He has interest in following special fields:

Microvascular Surgery
Cleft Lip and Palate
Cosmetic Surgery
A special feature of this surgery is that each case in unique and no two cases will be similar. This profession, Dr. Prasad firmly believes is taxing on his time and there are occasions when he is unable to attend to his family responsibilities.
While it is normal for any successful surgeon to set shop in a foreign country where the scope is always bigger, Dr. Prasad responds "I like my Country very much", hence has no interest in settling abroad. I would rather devote my services in India and offer it to the needy patients, though this will not fetch fame and fortune which is possible outside India.
To broaden his services and exposure he prefers to be associated with many centers rather than setting up his own clinic. Mrs. Uma Prasad, Dr. Prasads wife helps Dr. Prasad to the core.
Dr. Prasad's late father Sri. S.U. Sitaram was a well known figure in Chembur and was the President of the illustrious institution - The Fine Arts Society at the time of his demise.
In spite of his busy schedule, Dr. Prasad's interest is Carnatic Music as this is one of his hobbies and he still finds time for attending Carantic concerts. Dr. Prasad is also the Chairman of the Health Wing at the Fine Arts Society.
